Independent Art and Photography - A Fine City prototype

I had already made a quick mock up with just the names of the images written on it so that I could figure out how it would be assembled. However, I wanted to make a proper prototype to see if the images I had chosen to go next to each other in the book really worked. Therefore, I made up the pages on photoshop and printed them on normal printer paper on my home printer. Obviously, the quality of the images is not the best, but it was mainly just to give me an impression of how the images would work together. I also wanted to check that my way of stitching the book together would be effective.
Here are some pictures of my test:

Doing this mock up really helped me to envision how the finished article would look. I used very thick thread to stitch it together, I wanted it to be obvious that the book was handmade, so showing the stitching is important to me. The only issues I had was the fact that, as the pages themselves are A4 size, the outer cover (which was also A4) was too small, and didn't cover the images fully. The paper is also too thin, which meant it was possible to see the next image on the back of the paper through the first one. I do really like the look of it though, especially the look of the front cover at title page reflecting each other.
The other thing I need to make sure I change when making the final book is aligning the images of the shop front properly. I wanted that fold out section to reflect the shops along one road, so I need to make sure all the borders are relatively consistent.
I am now also thinking about making a slip cover for the outside in the same colour card as the cover. This will make sure that the book stays secure and protected, and the cover doesn't flap open so easily when looking at it.
